Description
Sign Language is a great and fun way to communicate with children long before they reach their verbal stage. Gestural communication is possible months before verbal skills emerge. For example, your child can wave "bye-bye" and shake their head "No!" long before they can say the words. There are many joys and advantages that come with communicating with your baby early in life.
For older children, you can sign in silence across the room or across the yard, no need to raise your voice . . . by signing "Wait a minute." "Please stop that." "Come here please." "Mama's busy now." etc.
Objective Of This Instruction: This class is for those who want to use basic, coversational sign language to express phrases often used in daily living. To name a few: "Baby," "Mama," "Daddy," "Milk," "More milk," "All done!" "Diaper," "Change diaper," "Eat," "Play" "Blanket," "Bath," Pacifier," "Dirty," "Clean," "Hurt," "Hot," "Cold," "Scared," "Puppy" "Kitty," etc.
What Can Participants Expect In The First Session? Students will a) learn the benefits of using sign language with babies and children; b) effective ways to use sign language with babies and children, c) how to deliver sign language effectively, in ways that motivate others to watch it, learn from it and enjoy it; d) learn approximately 30 signs; more if time permits, and e) at the end of the session, each student will suggest one or two signs they would like to learn in the second session.
What Can Participants Expect In The Second Session? a) a review of signs learned in the first session; b) the sharing of experiences students had while signing at home and, c) an opportunity to learn all signs that students suggested in in the first session.
