The Alexander Technique focuses on identifying habitual tension patterns that we carry into our daily activities, our relationship to movement and learning. We are so accustomed to the tension we carry that unless we are in pain, we rarely notice it. Our kinesthetic sense, which should be our guide to healthy posture and co-ordination in movement, is seldom reliable enough to give us the feedback we need. This results in various types of tension related illnesses, repetitive strain, and fatigue.
Students of the technique are made aware of the tension patterns that interfere with their co-ordination. Through gentle hands-on guidance, old subconscious habits are replaced by consciously directed movements which, over time, increase the reliability of our kinesthetic sense. Students gain practical skills that can be applied to all activities such as the ability to identify and stop destructive patterns that interfere with how we respond to our environment. Clinical studies have shown that the technique improves breathing capacity and posture, reduces stress disorders, and provides long term relief from chronic pain.

Review of Lisa Wentz, August 04, 2009
"Lisa is a fantastic teacher, she really brought out the best in me. I am much more confident now speaking in front of my co-workers and at conferences. I think Lisa is thoroughly qualified, and would definitely recommend her to others seeking structure to public speaking and a more powerful voice."

Review of Lisa Wentz, March 11, 2009
When I first contacted Lisa for Alexander Technique lessons, I was hoping that the Technique would help my back pain, and help me feel more grounded as a performer. At the time I had been studying acting for a few years. I've been told by many that I am very talented, and I believe I am. But at this time my nervousness during auditions would get the better of me. All of the hard work and preparation would be stifled by a dry mouth, weak voice and self consciousness.
After the first two lessons it was easy to see the effects on my back pain because it was no longer there.
It took a little longer to have the grounding effect I was looking for in my work. I now have a system for dealing with my nervousness which I learned from Alexander Technique. I find it hard to describe but I my desire to communicate as an actress and as a human being are no longer dampened by nerves. I understand I have a choice of how to respond to outside pressures. The lessons were invaluable. Lisa is very specific and direct. I think she is a great teacher. I highly recommend her. When I first contacted Lisa for Alexander Technique lessons, I was hoping that the Technique would help my back pain, and help me feel more grounded as a performer.
