Discover simple mind-body practices to deepen your natural state of relaxed awareness. The body is always in the present, and is the container of life, experience and awareness. The mind however moves from past to future and rarely is present to this moment’s experience.
In this workshop, we will explore how mindfulness of the body is the ground for understanding and working with the ever-changing movement and conditions of life. Both the stress and relaxation responses within the body and mind will be discussed and we will practice various ways to deepen mindfulness and strengthen the relaxation response. These include gentle yoga poses and breathing practices, mindful walking, and body centered relaxation and awareness practices that ground and support the unfolding of the dharma of life.

This class is accessible and adaptable to everyone. Instruction will be given for people who prefer to do the class in a chair.

Review of Chris Prenovitz, April 17, 2009

I have taken Chris's yoga class for 8 years, and it's been an invaluable tool in living a healthier life. Her years of study and experience make her an exceptional teacher, and her students benefit greatly from her wide range of knowledge of yoga practices and theory. She is a good teacher, a good listener, gives each student individual attention, and her manner imparts an atmosphere of calm and support in each class. Many of us have been in her class for years, and yet still learn new things from Chris which we can apply to our daily lives. She provides handouts of other yoga resources, poetry, essays, readings, etc. which I keep and read again and again.

Review of Chris Prenovitz, April 16, 2009

I have taken yoga classes from Chris Prenovitz for 8 years, through the Swedish Hospital Stress Management course. It has been a most valuable experience. I have learned things from Chris that I use all the time. She is a great teacher, makes an effort to get to know each student's needs, and provides handouts that I keep and re-read. Her manner is always soothing, supportive, and helpful as we practice new things. It's obvious she has studied with many teachers herself, and her students benefit from her vast knowledge and experience. Many of us in the class have been there for years, which speaks to the atmosphere Chris creates for all of us. I am very grateful that I found Chris's class, and for the change it has made in my life. She is a first rate teacher, and person.
