“Are We There Yet?” the obnoxious refrain that kids use endlessly while on some trip with their parents, is a question/statement that implies a mix of excitement and inherent dissatisfaction with wherever place the parents might be driving to. Kids (…and artists?) are always expanding their knowledge of the natural world, upping the ante for future experiences. Are we all in need of a new frontier? Signs point to yes. Through examples and topics culled from both art and technology, this class will discuss humanity’s constant need of expanding its boundaries, extending and streamlining the form and function of natural landscape and adapting it to the speed, depth and quality of our daily life.
