Whether you've never picked up a brush, or you just need some feedback and advice on a project, this class will inform, inspire, and push you forward in your oil painting practice.
My teaching style is enthusiastic, supportive and flexible. I tailor my instruction to your level, so beginning students gain the technical skills you need to get started, while experienced painters benefit from a practiced eye and knowledge of various painting styles and subjects. Group critiques (done in a positive manner, I promise!) give you valuable feedback to enhance your work.
Classes are held in my Georgetown studio, convenient to I-5. There are over 40 professional artists in our building, so you will be exposed to artists practicing everything from painting to ornate metalwork and blacksmithing!
I also occasionally offer students the opportunity to participate in a show at my studio during the buildings' open houses. We are part of the Georgetown Second Saturday Art Attack.
Weekday classes are ongoing, with a rolling start, and are offered on Thursday: Mornings from 9:30 to 12:30, Afternoons from 1:30 to 4:30.
Saturday classes, 9 to noon, are also offered frequently; email me for schedule.
Class fee is $225. for 9 classes. Easels, mineral spirits, and rags are provided. Class is limited to 10 students.

Review of Oil Painting Classes: beginner or experienced painters welcome, October 22, 2009
Gini is a great teacher; she involves everyone and was always encouraging. I learned a lot about using color and really searching to find the true hue within an object.

Review of GiniLawson, October 31, 2009
Gini, a very accomplished professional artist, opens the door wide and welcomes her students into the magical world of oil painting. You choose the subject you want to paint. She coaches you through to an amazing finish. Varied skill levels in the class add to the party: beginners have nothing to fear; experienced students improve. Oil painting is absolutely my favorite day of the week. Better than a hot fudge sundae!
