Not Your Mother's Mosaics

This isn't your standard mosaic class! I specialize in using unusual materials for mosaic art.... scrabble tiles, game pieces, souvenir plates, guitar picks, old campaign buttons, and so much more. And why mosaic a mirror or a picture frame when you could mosaic a bowling pin, a magic 8-ball, or a gum ball machine??! That means that I can help you to make a truly personal...

And why mosaic a mirror or a picture frame when you could mosaic a bowling pin, a magic 8-ball, or a gum ball machine??! That means that I can help you to make a truly personal gift. And... okay, if you really want to mosaic a mirror, I can help you with that too!

I've designed a "super special"! We'll met at the studio for the first session, but finish the session at the nearby Goodwill where we can shop for project materials. I can help you in choosing those materials that will work best and help make your project a success and fun!!!

Second and third sessions are for designing, and gluing. The last session will be grouting (it's sooo exciting and fun) and a bit of a party, of course.

So dust of your creativity and jump into this summer fun!

Here's what one student had to say:
My finished masterpiece is
already hung it on the wall and put it into use.
It gets lots of compliments.
Thanks again for sharing all your tricks of the trade with me.
I learned a bunch and will definitely tell my friends!
thanks again!

My mosaics can be found in several magazines and a coffee table book and are sold locally at Venue in Ballard. I've also been featured on HGTV making one of my classic mosaic bowling pins! Here's a link to their site:

Notes:

Prices vary depending on the class we design for you. For a four session class, the cost is $285. The sessions would be approx. 2 hours each. Bring a friend, and you'll each save 10%. Your cost includes basic supplies and all tools are supplied. Additional supplies are available to purchase and feel free to bring materials you'd like to work with.

I do my artwork for a living, and therefore, I'm very flexible with my time for teaching. I'm fine with daytime or evening, weekdays or weekends.

I accept credit cards, debit cards, and cold hard cash, of course ; )

I'm also happy to work with you on an hourly basis, $45/hour. Bring a friend and you'll each save 10%.

Review of Not Your Mother's Mosaics, January 14, 2009

Julie is an extreemly creative person and so fun and inspiring to spend time with. She is very flexible to work around my inconsistent schedule. She has loads of insight and tips to provide, that you wouldn't get from anywhere else. Highly recommend giving mosaic making a try and Julie is a great person take you through it. Enjoy!

Review of Not Your Mother's Mosaics, August 26, 2008

I have taken the "make a stepping stone" or "make a mirror" classes. This isn't that class. Not even close. Julie changed the way I look at mosaics. I had a wonderful time experimenting with all sorts of materials. She is a wealth of information as well as a source of inspiration. I left her studio excited to get started on a new project right away. Anybody wishing to get started making mosaics or looking to learn more should take her class. I sure am happy I did!
