Northwest Junior Pipe Band is the only bagpipe band for youth in Western Washington. The band is the first youth band from Washington to plan a trip to Scotland since 1969, and will also be the first to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships.
Bagpipes are a challenging instrument, but we've seen remarkable success; for some kids, this instrument brings meaning and history into their lives. Last year we had an 8 year old drummer and a 15 year old piper start taking lessons in November, and by June, they were up and competing with our beginning band--which was undefeated in every competition entered in its first year!
Learning and playing pipes and drums with other youth of many backgrounds in a positive and supportive environment, but with focused goals and competition opportunities all over the world can be an incredible experience for many youth. Join our nearly 50 members and learn these uniquely challenging instruments!
