  • "Great Coach!"

Review of Writers Rainbow LLC, July 03, 2009

Tamara was an excellent Creativity Coach. She also had many resources and options that I could look at and decide what direction would work best for me. She had a natural friendly nature and even through cyber-space, it felt no different than if we did sessions in person. I highly recommend Tamara!

I have worked in literary outreach since 1998 when I launched a magical realism anthology to help promote literature and writers. I am also a founder of the Jane's Stories Press Foundation writers organization (1998-present), member of the Richard Hugo House (2002-present), and the current conference director for Field's End, the Bainbridge Island writers' community. I also occasionally work with the CLMP to teach small press publishers ways to maximize the Internet as a marketing and promotional tool.

I am a committed advocate for the literary small press, the electronic media, blogging, and independing publishers and booksellers.

I'm the director of Writer's Rainbow Literary Services, LLC, where I offer various editorial, coaching and mentoring services.

I'm especially devoted to writers of challenging genres such as magical realism, speculative fiction, and other alternatives to classic realism, but I have also worked with short story writers, children's writers, and authors of sagas. I can offer anything from a simple "Green Light review" for manuscript starts to copyediting and proofreading to full-blown developmental editing.

I teach classes (online workshops, live web workshops and in-person classes) focused on elements of the writing craft, the writing process, the revision process, using the internet, general creativity, beginning creative writing for adults, and specific genres (i.e. short fiction, poetry, magical realism, flash fiction).

I am also a writing coach and creativity trainer.

My company sponsors an annual competitive mentorship for writers of literary magical realism (Magic Carpet Ride) which allows me to work one-on-one with the author of a promising magical realist novel to either complete the manuscript, revise it, or market it.

Please call me for more information. Leave a voice mail if I'm not available...I'm often teaching or meeting with clients and don't answer my phone at those times. I can be reached between 9am and 4pm weekdays only. Also, my email: tamarasellman@gmail.com.
