I teach private banjo lessons out of my home in northeast Portland. My teaching style is fun, supportive, and warm. At the same time I can gently challenge you to move forward in your playing. I love teaching absolute beginners to music--children and even adult beginners. I also enjoy sharing the geekier aspects of clawhammer technique with more advanced students. I can teach you specific tunes and licks and I specialize in helping students pick up tunes on the fly and play with other musicians in jams.

I charge $50 per hour, $30 per half hour. I offer some sliding scale and a big discount for students that are able to commit to weekly one-hour lessons. I am open to trade.
