Review of Bellydance Level I (Introduction to Belly Dance), October 18, 2009
This was the very first bellydance classes that I took. Amy paced the class very well that I can enjoyed the class from the first moment. The classes had very good energy - good music, great movements and workout and students in the class have good concentration. I actually work and live on the eastside, but I remember every wednesday I'd look forward to Amy's class and it totally worth the commute. Everytime after class I felt uplifted and energized and happy!
And just as all the other reviewer said, Amy is amazing teacher. She pays a lot of attention to the students so I got enough attention even it's a group class. Bellydance involves a lot of internal muscles and a lot of times it's really hard for the teacher to describe where the "trick" is. But Amy uses very well intuitive instructions and gave us visual help, so I can easily understand the magic that I needed to work on.
But what's the best is that Amy is simply a gorgeous, inspiring and amazing being. She's a very earthy, warm person and kept her students well connected. Because of Amy, I got to participate in the parades, bellydance retreat (it was tons of fun and amazing!) and always informed with cool bellydance shows in the area. I'm really glad to know Amy!!

Amy makes you feel good about wiggling your hips, encourages you to be comfortable in your body, and breaks down bellydancing into foundational movements. You may be a beginner now, but stick to it and you're building towards being a gorgeous dancing goddess. My only disappointment in the class is the lack of a sense of community. I half wanted to try something new and half wanted to make friends (I'm quasi-new to the area and fighting against the "Seattle freeze"). Alas, no friends, but my buns are toned and my abs are tighter. And Amy is just a really great person.
