Have you seen the new flowy fan fad sweeping through the belly dance nation? These fans are a fun prop which originates in Chinese dance, going back as far as the 4th millennium BC. Mirabai has become known throughout the US and Canada for her mesmerizing fan fusion, and now she shares her studies of this form with you.
In this workshop, Mirabai introduces students to her fan technique and concepts, and leads them through a series of combinations that culminate in a short choreography. She also provides historical, cultural, and contextual information. This workshop is designed to provide students with the option to use this choreography in their own future performances or to be inspired to proceed with their own fabulous fan work.
Mirabai has been commissioned to perform her fan dances in multiple theatrical productions, and has won awards for her Chinese silk fan and belly dance fusion dance.

We seldom host workshops, but Mirabai made it so easy. She is a joy to work with and highly recommend her for yours. She kept the 2 hr class on track, made it fun, informative and inspired many of us to incorporate her combos into our routines. For such a petite woman, Mirabia is an extremely dynamic performer who lights up the stage and engages the audience. She did all this while 5 months expecting - wow!
