Letterpress Printing

Letterpress printing is anything but obsolete. Learn how to set type by hand and operate presses in a fully equipped, old-fashioned studio. Working collaboratively, participants will produce limited edition, typographic samplers from the instructor's large collection of both wood and metal typefaces. You will print on both platen and flatbed presses and produce work with the timeless quality of type biting into paper unique to letterpress printing. This weekend workshop takes place on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the artist's studio. This class is offered through the University of Washington Experimental College and they must be contacted directly to pay their $10 registration fee for your name to appear on their roster (in addition to the class fee paid to the instructor) 206.543.4375.
