The Genesis of MindGlo
Posted by MindGlo on August 06, 2009
Hi my name is Ken Lynch. I am the owner and principle of MindGlo. So... “What do I write about?" The last 6 months of my life have been so eventful that I could write a book. The main title of the book would be “Never Give Up.” I am sure there are many books with that title but it seems so appropriate for me, my story, and MindGlo. Getting back to this question of what to write about, content is not my issue, so my real focus comes down to you (the reader). Of all the things I could write about what would interest you the most? With that said I will need your help figuring that out. For my first post it seems most appropriate to write about the genesis of MindGlo.
So where did MindGlo come from? How did it get here? I find those questions to be mysterious myself. The idea for MindGlo from the name, to the logo, to picking the instructors and on and on all came from me. That is not to say that I didn’t have help and thank...
How To Stay Positive
Posted by Business Coach on June 17, 2009
Many studies, such as Amen Clinics Research, illustrate the importance of a positive mind for physical health, mental health, creativity, productivity, focus, discipline, fulfillment, imagination, and dedication. All of these benefits have a direct impact on living more fulfilling lives and experiencing better results in business.
Brain scans show that a positive mind is much more active than a negative mind, and active in the areas critical for many of the benefits above. My focus here is on how to be more positive and if you are already in a positive state, how to enhance it further.
Below are a few approaches that may be helpful for you. Try them out and find...
How To Set Goals
Posted by Business Coach on June 17, 2009
1. Specific: The goal must be specific. If the goal is not specific enough it will lack clarity and meaning. Example: “I’d like to move soon.” versus “I will move by Feb 1, 2009 to ________, by doing, ABC.”
2. Measurable: The goal must be measurable and have a well defined outcome. Example: “I want to cut weight.” versus “I will drop 15 lbs by April 10, 2009″ or “Achieve body fat of 5% by June 1, 2009.”
3. Accountability: You must set up and have accountability. Example: Arrange for a friend, family member, business partner, or a coach to help hold you accountable. The more people who know about your goal, the...

Everybody Has a Customer
Posted by customerexperience on May 08, 2009
Is there any job that doesn’t have a customer?
If you work directly with paying customers, you obviously impact customer experience.
If you don’t: 1. Eventually, the job you do ripples to those employees who do work directly with customers — don’t drop the baton!
2. Inside your company, the job you do has internal customers — figure out how to make their experience excellent!
What everyone in a company does can be reduced to one of two functions: to serve the customer or serve someone who does.1
Think of the purpose of your job — why is it worthwhile for the company to fund your position? To answer this, big-picture thinking is needed. Ultimately, what you do in your job must be important in...
Parenting your Business
Posted by Mickey Bryant on May 02, 2009
What does thinking like a business person really mean? Being alert at all times, knowing when to hold them or when to fold them, always thinking of the next step, knowing when to feed or nurture an idea, execute a plan? The list can go on and on.
I believe that the approach to parenting children and...
Neighborhood (Twitter) Talk: Rentwiki launches Twitter integration
Posted by pistachio on April 10, 2009
When Twitter really is your village…
I LOVE the Twitter integrations that www.rentwiki.com just announced. One is “neighborhood talk” — a simple widget on their site that searches Twitter for mentions of the neighborhood. That means you can peek at what’s being said, and if you want, you can immediately reach out to the folks who are saying it. You can view the page for North Beach, SF that’s also pictured below:
RentWiki Twitter Integration
From their (excellent, by the way) pitch email:
“Wouldn’t it be nice if you could go into the coffee shop of a neighborhood you were interested in moving to and listen to what the locals are saying without feeling seriously awkward?”
You have to pick a city, drill down to “Neighborhood Review” and then click on a specific neighborhood to find the Twitter...
Executive Twitter: Blogging without the Timesuck
Posted by pistachio on April 10, 2009
Executives can generate substantial business value by posting their thoughts, resources, news and their ideas to microsharing tools like Twitter.
ROI vs. Blogging
Twitter’s much more practical, accessible and more easily integrated into demanding executive lifestyles. Blogging requires hours a day and a whole new skillset. Microsharing is easily done from the mobile devices executives already carry and use.
Done well, microsharing can generate even more value than an executive blog because the ROI equation is so much better. Twitter is deeply networked, so important ideas and information flow to and from your executives quickly. Ideas spread further, faster and it’s much easier for employees, customers and other stakeholders to follow. It’s so...
