Water Aerobics / Exercise Classes

Subject: Water Aerobics

A CHALLENGING FULL-BODY FITNESS ACTIVITY
Have you ever noticed how challenging it is to walk through the shallow end of a swimming pool? Or how tired you can make yourself by simply trying to move your limbs quickly through water? Due to the constant resistance provided by the water all around you, virtually everything you do while you’re underwater can be considered a fitness activity.

It’s no wonder that competitive swimmers often have the types of physiques that most people envy – they build muscle and burn fat quickly because they’re constantly propelling themselves through water. But you don’t need to be a serious swimmer to achieve the many benefits of water exercise. For decades, fitness buffs have used aqua aerobics as a way to get an intense workout that burns calories much more efficiently than many other forms of exercise.

From water aerobic exercises to water walking exercises, working out in the pool is an excellent non-impact way to build strength, reduce body fat, and increase flexibility. That’s why 24 Hour Fitness offers water aerobics classes at many of our club locations that offer swimming facilities. As you participate in water aerobics classes, you can easily burn 200 – 300 calories* while also reducing your risk of injury compared to other forms of exercise such as running, weight lifting, or contact sports.

AQUA AEROBICS CLASSES
Jump right in – the water’s great! 24 Hour Fitness’ popular water exercise classes focus on both cardiovascular and strength benefits. Whether you’re trying to maintain your current level of fitness or reach a new level, the added benefit of training in water makes our aqua workouts safe and fun without impact to the joints. Even people who suffer from arthritis may want to give these classes a try!

These classes may use resistance tools that include buoyant water weights and noodles. Because of their low-impact format, aqua aerobics classes are suitable for every fitness level – from beginning exercisers through elite athletes. Everyone is welcome. Participants may bring and use their own water shoes and gloves.
