LISTEN UP! The Art of The Interview

"...I found [our] conversations about 4 times more fun and thought-provoking than any other moderated talks in which I've participated."— David Benioff (screenwriter, THE 25TH HOUR; THE KITE RUNNER; WOLVERINE)
I am always flattered by the (unsolicited!) feedback I receive from the folks I interview. I am thrilled they appreciate the spirit with which I approach interviews. (Owen Schmitt of The Seattle Seahawks refers to my style as "chill"... and who am I to argue with the 6'2", 247 pound fullback?)
Now you can learn how I prepare for interviews and how I respond to the different challenges presented by questioning folks on tape, on camera or before an audience. And, I'll share insights and a little bit of gossip from the 1,000+ interviews I've conducted with the likes of Amy Sedaris, Calvin Trillin, Naomi Watts, Robert Duvall, Mariel Hemingway, Salman Rushdie, Nora Ephron,Michael Pollan, Charlie Kaufman, Augusten Burrough, Andy Samberg, Vincent Bugliosi, Nicolas Cage and others.
You'll learn why documentarian Peter Esmonde says: "I was more relaxed being interviewed by you than anyone before or since. It's so clear that, aside from being attentive and intelligent, you know [your stuff] -- and that makes the interview more of a conversation with a compadre."
And now, I can proudly announce the venue for this special, intensive. LISTEN UP! The Art of the Interview will be staged at Sip & Ship in Ballard. Tuition for this exclusive, 3-hour workshop is only $75. You may mail check or money order (made payable to Warren Etheredge) to: 1752 NW Market St #118, Seattle 98107. Or, pay using PayPal, sending money to warren@thewarrenreport.com
Space is limited, so please reserve your seat today and indicate you'll be attending here on Facebook.

Review of LISTEN UP! The Art of The Interview, October 29, 2009
Last Monday evening was fantastic -- I enjoyed Warren's "Art of the Interview" class tremendously -- it was primarily focused on filmmakers and the interview process that surrounds documentaries and in-person interviewing, but I found it applicable to all areas of life, from both conducting business interviews to being interviewed both individually and on panels as part of group events. He kept the class very interesting, mixing in personal anecdotes and soliciting stories from other attendees, and the time just slipped by.
I will definitely attend future Warren classes -- very entertaining and educational.

Review of Warren Etheredge, October 22, 2009
I recently took Warren's class on the "Art of Interview". I'd love to make this class a requirement at my workplace (I work in the software industry). It's practical and you can apply it to any situation (not just for interviewing) where you want to have a meaningful conversation, make a deeper connection or improve the effectiveness of your communication. I love how Warren makes learning FUN. He weaves his funny experiences, observations and quick wit (a tonic in itself), there's also a lot of practical, specific and useful information/advice that makes you more aware of how you interact, and choices you make in conversing.
The part I enjoyed best was putting the advice into practice, it's not as easy as it seems. One suggestion is do a follow-up workshop where people practice interviewing, and continue to hone their skills.I recently took Warren's class on the "Art of Interview".
