Welcome to the American Rhythm Program! In these classes, you will be learning the American Style Latin dances, known as the Rhythm dances. Each month long class class covers two different latin dances. I also have an optional “field trip” every month to go out together and practice what we’re learning. It’s a great way to reinforce new material and have fun at the same time! I’ll make announcements in class in advance to let you know where and when.
If you have to miss a class, feel like you need a little extra help, or want to accelerate your learning I am available for private lessons. You can call me at 415-820-9699 or email me at Angie@AngieDance.com and I’ll be happy to schedule an appointment with you either in Sout City or at Cheryl Burke Dance.
Level 1 is perfect for beginners. I’ll start the class off with some warm up music so you can review what you learned the previous week, and discover places where you might have some questions. Next we’ll review the previous material and then learn new things. Please feel free to ask me questions. If you have a question, chances are someone else does too! Although it’s a beginning class, I often have students take the class more than once so they start to get the feel of styling and technique with their basic steps so it’s important not to compare yourself to others. Like all new skills, it just takes a bit of time and effort. Don’t forget to have fun with it!
Level 2 covers more advanced steps and I never have the same syllabus, so you can take this class again and again. There is quite a jump between level 1 and 2, so I recommend taking level 1 at least a second time, either before taking the second level, or concurrently. I’ll begin each class with warm up music to let you review previous steps before we get started.
I want to make this class a wonderful experience for you and share with you my passion for partner dancing.

Review of Angie Major, March 15, 2009
Angie is simply amazing! I have taken both private lessons with her (for over a year now) and attended her group classes. She is a wonderful dance instructor. She is patient, fun, energetic, and kind, not to mention a fabulous dancer! She is so easy to dance with, I am extremely shy dancer but feel completely at ease and comfortable dancing with her. She makes it okay to make a mistake and offers a vast amount of knowledge on a variety of dance styles. I have learned so much more than I thought I would in such a short amount of time and her style is so much fun that I look forward to my lessons each week. She also has an amazing talent for knowing what I may have missed or done wrong when things get off track. She makes sure to come up with creative and detailed exercises for me if I have trouble mastering a step or body movement. Angie is an fabulous dance instructor!

Review of Angie Major, March 13, 2009
Angie is an amazing instructor for beginners on up to advanced students. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and the encouragement she gives keeps you coming back for more.
Angie is passionate about her craft, and it comes through in every lesson. She's always well-prepared and has what seems like an endless supply of exciting new steps and routines to teach. Angie makes each class fun. Along with dance steps, you'll get a hearty dose of smiles and laughter. Her teaching style helps students bond with each other so that you gain confidence and don't feel intimidated on the dance floor.
It amazes me how Angie can teach a complicated lesson to a really large group of students with the same ease she handles small classes. I've seen her teach up to as many as maybe 30 students, and they all "got it" by the end of the lesson.
Angie was my first instructor when I started ballroom and Latin dancing--she's responsible for getting me "hooked." She's more than my teacher now--we became close, personal friends over the years. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to study with her.
Quality dance instructors are hard to find and I think Angie is just superb. I now live a couple of hours away from the studio, but I keep begging her to move here. I've even gone so far as to locate a local studio where can visit to teach classes and give seminars and offered our guest room anytime she's in town. What does that tell you??
