Youth World Dance and Belly Dance Classes

The Danceversity youth program features instruction in cultural dances from around the world, taught by a diverse blend of professional dance artists that comprise the Danceversity faculty. The weekly classes emphasize movement vocabulary and folkloric dances from Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Iran. Other genres, such as modern, hip hop, Bollywood, and flamenco are also introduced.
DROP-INS ARE WELCOME ($15) or sign up for the entire fall series for a discount.

Speaking as a mother of a pre-teen girl, Hannah Romanowsky's Danceversity program is the perfect antidote to the barrage of media messages to pre-teen girls and teens. What a way to build self esteem, confidence, comfort in your own skin and body, etc. etc. Girls attend weekly or through Danceversity's summer intensive program, learning dances from all over the world. The program is inspiring; during the summer professional dancers from all over the Bay Area come to Danceversity and share their dance experiences, teaching dances from Afghanistan, China, India, Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Japan, Spain, Mexico, and many others. The students not only learn the dances, but they also learn about the cultures from which they come. The weekly program focuses on Middle Eastern Dance and the performance troupe allows the students to experience festivals and activities to learn how to be performers. An added benefit is the community building amongst the students - a range of ages and experiences blend together and build strong bonds amongst the girls. My daughter has been attending for over 4 years, takes weekly classes, and has nothing but good things to say. Next year, she will be attending a school for the arts, with an emphasis of dance, as Danceversity has nurtured her love of dance.

My daughter has been a Danceversity student for five years, and Hannah Romanowksy has been one of the most inspirational people in her life. Hannah is not just a beautiful dancer and extraordinary dance teacher; she is also an excellent model of qualities such as patience, humor, respect, positive attitude, and grace under pressure.
