AWE-Some Portrait
Week 4

At AWE Studio, I just finished teaching a charcoal portraiture class. The photos above capture the weekly progress of drawing a portrait by concentrating on the forms and values of shadows, instead of focusing on the features.  The result is a very realistic likeness of my student's subject.  She was thrilled, and rightly so, becuase she had never drawn a portrait before and only started taking classes with me recently.

That is why I named my art studio AWE (Art With Everyone) because I truly believe that my unique method of teaching makes art accessible to everyone.

Look for new classes starting in May.

    • Janet. This is awesome! Thanks so much for this great post. I'm sad I missed this class, but am looking forward to more this summer and fall. Really great pictures. Thanks for posting.

    • This really is AWE-some! I love the gradual progression week by week. That's where the magic is, the more and more you consistantly draw and you start comparing over time -- it's always exciting to see how you've grown as an artist.
