AWE-Some Portrait
Posted by AWE Studio on April 06, 2009
At AWE Studio, I just finished teaching a charcoal portraiture class. The photos above capture the weekly progress of drawing a portrait by concentrating on the forms and values of shadows, instead of focusing on the features. The result is a very realistic likeness of my student's subject. She was thrilled, and rightly so, becuase she had never drawn a portrait before and only started taking classes with me recently.
That is why I named my art studio AWE (Art With Everyone) because I truly believe that my unique method of teaching makes art accessible to everyone.
Look for new classes starting in May.

Janet. This is awesome! Thanks so much for this great post. I'm sad I missed this class, but am looking forward to more this summer and fall. Really great pictures. Thanks for posting.

This really is AWE-some! I love the gradual progression week by week. That's where the magic is, the more and more you consistantly draw and you start comparing over time -- it's always exciting to see how you've grown as an artist.
