Portland Community College: Classroom Training Class

Textbooks and all related classroom material are provided for the students. We use the 10th edition of Drive Right, a standard high school text approved by the Department of Transportation. In addition, we use the Oregon Driver’s Manual. We conduct a mandatory parent session to address parent’s concerns and show them how to get involved with their child’s driver education. We provide a parent pack to guide them through the program. We supplement the textbooks with videos shown in class provided by the DMV and Department of Transportation.

We also show videos supplied by various national and state organizations that are involved in traffic safety. We also use guest speakers such as trauma nurses, insurance agents etc.....

We give a 50 question exam covering the Oregon Driver’s Manual and five unit assessments and a final project.

Grades are Pass/Fail, based on the student attending 30 hours of class and achieving a minimum of 75% on the tests and completing all activies and final project.
