Tips on Applying to School
Posted by Brett Nowak on September 02, 2009
- Start Working Now: The earlier you start on your applications the better.
- Use Every Resource You Have: The application is just one tool that everyone uses to get accepted. Do not overlook the other areas of the process that can improve your chances.
- Build a Team: The application process is more competitive than ever; 7.1% of applicants were accepted to Harvard last year. When competing against 30,000 other qualified applicants you need help. If you don’t work with us (we hope you do!), find someone who has succeeded in the process before.
- Go For Home Runs: Writing generic or overdone essays might work with your safety schools but will get lost in the crowd at a top admissions office. You have to construct your essays with the audience in mind.
- Hire help: When it costs $50,000 a year for a private universities it’s worth the initial investment to get into your top choice. Don’t save money now and spend $200,000 on your third choice school.
