BODYBUILDING.COM Is Conducting a Voluntary Nationwide and International Recall of 65 Dietary Supplements That May Contain Steroids
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Boise, ID - November 3, 2009 – As part of its ongoing cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration ("FDA"), Bodybuilding.com, LLC (the “Company") announced today that it is conducting a voluntary nationwide and international recall of all lots and expiration dates of 65 dietary supplement products (the "Recalled Products") described on the attached list, that were sold through the Company's website, www.bodybuilding.com.
The FDA has informed the Company that it believes that the Recalled Products contain ingredients that are steroids. Specifically, the FDA has advised the Company of its concern that the Recalled Products may contain the following ingredients that are currently classified, or the FDA believes should be classified, as steroids: "Superdrol," "Madol," "Tren," "Androstenedione," and/or "Turinabol." While the Company has not had an opportunity to independently confirm the FDA's concerns that the Recalled Products in fact contain these ingredients, the Company is undertaking this voluntary recall in an abundance of caution.
Acute liver injury is known to be a possible harmful effect of using steroid-containing products. In addition, steroids may cause other serious long-term adverse health consequences in men, women, and children. These include shrinkage of the testes and male infertility, masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, short stature in children, a higher predilection to misuse other...

Did an illness throw off your workout routine?
Posted by Jenn Givler on November 12, 2009
It's very common to be thrown out of your fitness routine due to illness. First off, you shouldn't exercise when you're sick. Your body is using all of its resources to fight the illness. When you workout, it's got to divide those resources between the illness and your workout.
And, you can really injure yourself - you know you're not "on your game" when you're sick, pushing yourself can cause you to...

When and why you began to exercise: I began my dancing career at the age of 3. Throughout my entire life, dancing has been my favorite form of exercise. My early learning experiences started at the Gift Sisters with tap and ballet, then on to Shirley Thomas School of Dance for baton.I entered the Exeter Township Baton Corps at age 13 and became featured twirler in my senior year of high school. After the birth of my son, I decided to learn a different type of dance. I received instruction on Middle Eastern dancing and began dancing for functions in the Reading, Pottstown and Pittsburgh areas. As I approached my late 30s, I returned to taking jazz dance classes at a few different locations in Reading just to keep fit. From there I ended up at the Dance Centers of Mount Penn, where I furthered my studies with more tap and jazz instruction. At that time, the baton teacher had left in midseason and the owner of the Dance Centers knew of my history. She asked if I would take over the classes. That was 15 years ago. I also taught children ages 5 to 10 tap, ballet and tumbling. In addition, I used my belly dance, tap and jazz experience and knowledge to teach adults.Type you do: Nine years ago, with the help of a friend, I...

MAKING FITNESS FUN – Part 1 – Avoid Fitness Infidelity!
By Cori Ann Lentz
Starting a new fitness routine can sometimes be like intimacy within a long-term relationship. You want it all, you deserve it all, but sometimes you have to mix things up a bit to keep it interesting and exciting! If it’s not a rewarding, motivating, and healthy relationship you may find yourself looking at what other activities have to offer. Before you know it you may wake up to find yourself in bed with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and a good episode of Dancing with the Stars. Instead of detrimental ‘fitness infidelity,’ try these suggestions to rekindle your love of fitness.
The truth is, if fitness isn’t fun, you aren’t going to do it. It doesn’t matter how much guilt you lay on yourself for that piece of cheesecake or that extra glass of wine. Punishing yourself with fitness is only going to make you want to rebel against it later. Instead of forcing yourself to exercise out of guilt, find a way to fall in love with fitness, to want it just as much as you want those sinfully decadent food and drinks, to look forward to it and daydream about it just as much as you would a new lover.
Innovative health clubs understand the importance of environments that make you WANT to be there. More important than that though, is your own mindset. Luckily, this is one area that we each have complete control over in our lives. Don’t fall into the trap of ‘furrowed-brow fitness’...
Not All Certifications Are the Same

This is a bit of a continuation of my CPR, AED, First Aid Training post. Things to think about and figure out:
1 (first and foremost) You have to figure out what you need. Do you need CPR/AED AND First Aid? Or just CPR and AED? Do you need Professional certification? Child CPR? There area lot of certificaitons out there, so you want to make sure that you get the one you need.
2 Find out if the places you are planning on working (if that is why you are getting it) take only certain certifications (Red Cross, American Heart Association, etc.) Most gyms that I have seen will NOT take certifications received...
CPR, AED, First Aid Training
Posted by Help You Well on October 30, 2009
Wow. There are different types of training. I am not going to get into all of the different types because you need to determine what you need yourself, so you’ll need to do a bit of research. Once you know what you need, shop around and find out the best one that will work for you. I just want to share with you some information that you might not think about when shopping around.
I took my first CPR/AED/FA training a year ago. The certification for CPR/AED-Adult lasted one year. That certification for the Standard First Aid lasts three years. I think it was an excellent course. It was long, it was 7 or 8 hours. But the instructor had been doing it a long time and he was very good. He was entertaining and injected just the right amount of humor so as not to let the class be boring or to have us falling asleep. I would recommend this long, extensive class for anyone that is getting certified for the very first time. It was very detailed and we did a lot of practical...
