Depending on your community you may be able to take classes or join a team through a local gymnastics club.
If you're looking to learn the basics first or sharpen your skills anytime there are a lot of resources available such as:
You Tube Video
Universal Cheerleading Association www.uca.com
BooksMy personal favorite is www.varsity.com They have an entire section devoted to skills and drills to improve your moves and jumps. The site even has pages for Being a Cheerleader and Want to Be A Cheerleader? The Want to Be a Cheerleader section is where I started when I wanted to get into the sport.
Let me know if there's anything else you want to know.

I was semi interested early on in High School, but it wasn't until my Junior year when I made some friends with cheerleaders that I became really interested. They taught me some of the basic moves, but a lot of what I learned at first was through watching videos and going online. Once I got on a squad camp helped a TON. Taking tumbling classes helped a lot too.
Also, I cheered on an open (no real audition or tryout) team in college through a local gymnastics gym.
I would suggest doing a google search of gymnastics instruction, and then one of open cheerleading teams in whatever town you're in. If I remember from your profile you're from Denver? If so I did a quick Google search, you can look more into other, but the first thing that popped up was the Cheer Central Suns. They're a great example of the variety of offerings. They have recreational and competitive teams as well as tumbling and stunt classes.
The best place to start for you would be places with classes and open teams. All-Star teams have tougher tryouts and are usually for the vets, but if you end up enjoying and excelling it's of course a possibility.
I'm definitely rambling so I'll stop this now. I hope it helped!
