How can I better release my neck? 3 posts

After a very stressful day, I try to take 45 minutes to meditate and relax... but cannot always relax my neck. Is there a good way to do this when I'm on my own? I've tried elements of Alexander Technique and that helps, but is there a physical or mental trick that I can do in conjunction with that?

There are a few yoga poses that work to release the neck and you could learn these with a well trained teacher. I have practiced many of these poses and found relief from tightness and soreness in my neck. But, first a yoga teacher or chiropractor would have to see your neck to better understand what is going on. Based on their observations they would give you things to help relieve the tension. If you are interested in finding out more about where to find a yoga teacher or chiropractor who can do this, feel free to email me back.

There are some great neck stretches that really help. Also doing neck rolls is great. You also might want to look into Active Release Therapy, Muscle Activation Technique, Trigger point massage, acupressure, etc. Hanging upside down on an inversion table can help. A hot shower or bath can be great. You can also find some great herbal products on AHSecrets.com that can help speed up the process of getting into that deep relaxing meditative state. If you have any questions ask google. Or you can ask me.
