Why You and I Should Learn French
Posted by Scott Hulse on February 12, 2009
Learning multiple languages should be required everywhere in the
world. If you think about it, people in other countries outside of the
United States probably know more than two languages...fluently. As I
acknowledge this, I ask myself what other languages I would want to
learn. After reviewing plans about my future and what I see myself
doing as a career, I thought French would be a great language to
learn. Why? Well, let's consider a couple facts:
Did you know that the French R, nasal vowels and the French U are some of the factors that have caused people difficulty in learning the French language? However, don't fret! Anyone can learn French if you are diligent and set goals for yourself. More importantly, you should consider different approaches to learning French such as traveling abroad, getting tutored, surrounding yourself with French-speaking people or taking a culinary course in French. Anything really goes when you want to learn a language.
- French is the only language other than English spoken on five continents.
- French, along with English, is the official working language of the United Nations
