French Immersion Classes for young children

As a French Immersion care provider, my goal is to provide a safe and happy place
for the children where they can learn French and grow physically, emotionally,
intellectually, and socially at their own pace. I believe children learn French through
play and benefit from a structured yet flexible schedule.
Activities will be offered which stimulate sensory motor development, language
development and social interaction. The development of strong self-esteem is also a
major goal. Children will be taught to respect each other, adults, and property.
I am using French all of the time, speaking only in English if a student’s health or
safety is at risk.
Gestures, mime, pictures and objects are used to help the children understand.
Songs, poems, storytelling and choral speaking, as well as routines, or sequences of
activities are also used to help familiarize students with words and ideas, and to
encourage their earliest attempts to speak the language. Very quickly, through
watching and listening, the students begin to recognize words and phrases,
responding appropriately.
When they make mistakes, I don’t say they’re wrong, but instead uses repetition and
role modeling just as you did when your child was a baby.
