  • "A French Camp for all Kids"

      • 5/5 stars

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 14, 2009

This camp is unique because it allows kids of any level French language ability from none to excellent to meet counselors from France (and other countries) and learn about the Francophone world and the wonderful French language. The language classes are just part of the fun -- the camp is an active place with a huge variety of sports, games, arts, music, theater, and French passetemps like jousting, fencing, and French cuisine. I wish I were still 13!

  • "A fantastic place for a Retreat"

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 03, 2009

What a beautiful Island! This little treasure is perfect. Very remote, yet not difficult to access. The island is covered in moss and forest. It is small with gorgeous coastline and trails throughout. There is an intimacy about it, yet there are numerous little places for privacy. There is a lovely feeling of warmth and safety. It would be a great place for small/med groups for many different types of retreats, from Yoga, to Writing, Sailing, Business groups etc. There is a lodge with electricity, a full kitchen/dining room (fireplace), game room, pool/patio, all the basics. The directors and caretakers are very genuine, savvy and warmhearted. They have tremendous knowledge about the wildlife and geography and are extremely organized and skilled at what they do.
