I'm 28 years old, I have a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, and I've been teaching guitar, bass, and drums in the Seattle area for the past five years. Since arriving in Seattle, I have taught at Rock School, the Kirkland Teen Union Building (KTUB), 4/4 School of Music, and the Experience Music Project (EMP). Currently, I teach private guitar, bass, and drum lessons all over Seattle and the Eastside.
My approach to teaching is holistic. Lessons are catered to each student's tastes and goals. Generally, I focus on teaching students how to play their favorite songs, introducing theory as necessary for communication. All ages, levels, styles, and genres are welcome. I look forward to hearing from you!

I really cannot sing Ryan's praises enough. He's a fantastic musician, and with him as a teacher you really feel motivated. I've been playing guitar for about five months now, and I'm already well past other friends I know who've been playing for longer. Ryan is really easy to get along with, and you have a great time during your lesson. You don't feel pressured to practice, because it's something you genuinely want to do. He lets you play whatever kind of music you want, and always has great song ideas on hand in case you don't. All in all, Ryan is an amazing guitar teacher, and I'm honored to know him.

Hi I'm Ben and I'm ten years old. Ryan is a great teacher. He taught me to play songs that were fun to play, weren't too challenging, and sounded great. He was able to teach me scales and chords. He's also really patient and taught me the songs I wanted to learn. And he taught me really fast. I have a friend who has been playing guitar for three years and I have been playing for 6 months and he says I'm better than him!
