If you’re considering working in the jewelry field this class is for you!

Maybe you’ve thought about being a self employed jewelry maker or working in a trade shop (jewelry manufacturing shop) or becoming a gemologist or a gem cutter... maybe even having a retail store or jewelry gallery one day? These are just a few of the many career options available in the jewelry industry. Learning about these options is a wise “First Step” in planning your future.

Jewelry schools teach technical skills not career guidance. Without information on ‘where to start’ and ‘what to learn’ making smart choices is like throwing darts blindfolded. In an industry as large as “Jewelry,” with so many areas of expertise and job possibilities, the Best First Step is taking a class that provides real-world information, study advise and tips on what’s available, what you need to know and how to get started.

In this 4 hour class we’ll discuss areas of self employment open in the jewelry industry as well as jewelry ‘corporate’ careers. We’ll talk about pay scales, industry trends and advancement opportunities. With this information in hand you’ll be able to focus your interests and talents with jewelry career options and set a course to your goals.

I’ve worked full time in the jewelry industry for 39 years. I’ve owned two retail jewelry stores and several manufacturing shops, been through gemology school, had a gem importing business and done lots of jewelry marketing. You might say I’ve “been there, done that.” I’m now interested in sharing my years behind the counter, at the bench and working with industry professionals to assist people also considering working in the jewelry field.

With unlimited opportunities the jewelry business can be a rewarding career. Learning what’s available before deciding on a course of study is key to focusing your efforts on route to your goals. This class will clarify various options and help you make wiser choices.

  • "Richard will teach all that you ask and much more "

Review of Richard Paille, October 28, 2009

Richard is incredibly knowledible about jewelry, the tools needed and how to order them. He carefully taught me all that I had asked for and much much more. His workshop is neat, clean and well equiped. We shared a very enjoyable time together and yet every moment was filled with useful information. He continued to teach even while we ate our lunch.
