Subject: Guitar
Mike is a stern but gentle teacher. He is very easy going, however, Mike is very willing to push a student to reach their potential should they need it. In his own studies, Mike focuses on Jazz and improvisation. He enjoys many other styles of music as well such as rock, pop and classical.
Mike's focus for beginners learning the guitar is on technique and theory. His approach is to use basic chord progressions and single note reading. In addition he incorporates any song the student brings in and would like to learn. Mike believes that learning comes best when the student has songs they are interested in. Of course the specifics of a student's curriculum will be shaped by that student's interests.
