Musical Knitting Lessons
Machine Knitting to the Music
Knitting and music are wonderful companions. Put on those ear phones, plug into  your favorite beat, whether it's classical, rock, soft jazz, or your favorite dance tune, your needles will soon move with the rhythm. Talk about relaxing, this combination is the ultimate in relaxation.

If you're the energetic type, you could swing those needles, to the tunes of rock, pop,or a sassy dance tune. But be careful, if you feel the need to dance and swing your arms, knitting needles can be sharp and dangerous, if someone is nearby, put your needles down first, then dance.

As a music lover, and a teacher of knitting, I have been known to use musical rhythms to help my students remember the steps for executing a knitting technique.  My machine knitting young students looked at me in amazement when I shared with them the musical lesson on setting up their machines. It goes something like this

" Zizag,  comb, wire ,circular." (circular was done by rolling your neck around to the beat).

My adult hand knitting class giggled, when I went into my Rockette's, leg kicking version, to express how the knitting needle should come up and over. We all howled with laughter, but everyone remember the technique, because of the musical lesson.

Match your knitting to your favorite music and KNIT on.

    • This is great. I love combining things to make it even better. I can see this done well with art in general and music. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Also, just fyi for future articles -- make sure you add a photo of your cool creations or a video since articles with those are the only ones considered for the homepage. Cheers!

    • I have a Passap E6000 machine and would like to know how to use it. Do you give lessons using the machine? The machine in the picture looks very similar to mine.
