I'm currently offering group aikido lessons for children ages 8 through 11. Aikido is a defensive martial art that focuses on movement, awareness of one's body and surroundings, and mental discipline. Children participating in this class will learn awareness, self control, coordination skills, and strategies for defending themselves against larger opponents. All in a relaxed and fun environment.
Aikido is a particularly good martial art for children to practice as it fosters a philosophy of non-violence, is easy on the body and quite low impact. Children learn self-confidence, how to interact in a positive manner with slightly different age groups, strategies for peacefully resolving conflicts, and most importantly, they have a fantastic time doing it!
This session of classes will run from 10/2/09 - 12/18/09. Class will be held Fridays from 4-5pm. A minimum of 8 students will be necessary for this class to be held.

Review of NKanetomi, May 10, 2009
Avoid judging a book by it's cover - it's an old saying and is very applicable in this case. Anyone who mistakes Nik's mild manner and quiet calmness as an opportunity to be dominant and aggressive will be unpleasantly surprised. Nik is a perfect example of the benefit Aikido can bring to all of us - a powerful inner strength delivered in a calm, kind, unassuming exterior package. He is highly capable of teaching this to all who are ready.
