One day a week
Our one day a week Semi-Private Class is designed to maximize results in a minimal amount of time. This class is the most cost effective way to blend the benefits of Private Instruction with advantage of a group class.

Unique benefits
The Semi-Private Class began more than 5 years ago as an alternative to being on a waiting list to get into weekday classes. Since that time, the Semi-Private Class has developed a popularity all it’s own to the unique benefits it offers. Younger children, children with attention span issues, or simply those with limited time to commit to martial arts training can really experience many benefits from training in the Semi-Private Class.

High Instructor/Student ratio
As always, enrollment in the class is limited and instead of there being one instructor in the class, there is usually 4-8 instructors in the class allowing for a much greater ratio of instructors to students. On average there is one instructor with four students in this class.

Great results
The tremendous ratio of instructors to students allows the students to receive a lot of personalized attention, much closer to that of Private Instruction. This class works so well that the students training one day a week on Saturdays tend to advance at the same rate as students attending group classes twice a week.

So if scheduling or time is an issue, or you simply prefer the advantage of more personalized attention, the Semi-Private Class is an excellent choice.

  • "Excellent instruction and a welcoming community "

Review of Academy of Modern Martial Arts, October 04, 2008

I have been a student at The Academy of Modern Martial Arts for seven years. The training and support I have gained have immeasurable value to my life, whether at work, home or at school. My ability to handle my workload as a full time college student has been greatly enhanced by the skills I have learned as a martial artist. My instructors are caring and competent; the community that they have created is welcoming and genuinely cares about the well-being of every student.

The school is affordable and conveniently located in downtown Lake Oswego in the Lake Place shopping center behind Petco. Class offerings range from Tai Chi, and Karate to Grappling (Mixed Martial Arts) and Kick-boxing; most classes are in the evening with some day time and Saturday classes. Private instruction is also offered at various times. I highly recommend AMMA and it’s instructors to everyone.

  • "Great training and great people!"

Review of Academy of Modern Martial Arts, September 15, 2008

I have been a student at the Academy of Modern Martial Arts (AMMA) for nearly 7 years and as a result of my time spent studying at AMMA, the quality of my life has greatly increased. I can say without a doubt, that my time spent there has enhanced my capabilities as a martial artist, and human being.

My instructor, Chris Boyer is one of the finest people I have come into contact with. I would recommend him as an instructor to anyone who would like to learn martial arts. He is highly skilled in teaching, and has been studying martial arts for nearly two decades. He’s also just generally a great guy. Sifu Kristine who teaches children from 4-17 years old has a way to help kids learn that I think few people possess. I have assisted with some of her classes over the years. And after watching her students grow under her instruction, I highly recommend her as a youth instructor. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met.

I hope this review is helpful, I also hope you decide to come by the school and meet these people who have I have chosen to spend years of my time and attention with. They are good people and I am grateful to know them.

    Good luck in your search!
