In White Magnolia Tai Chi School classes students learn the various elements of Tai Chi and Chi Kung practice: stretching and basic warm-up exercises, stance training and standing meditation, forms, push hands, and martial applications of the various Tai Chi movements. Intermediate and advanced students may also learn the traditional Tai Chi weapon forms, which include Tai Chi fan, sword, saber, cane and staff.

Students are encouraged to allow themselves as much time as they need to learn each movement well, and are offered careful individual corrections to assist them along the way. Those who wish may work through the Plum Blossom Federation martial arts ranking program. Students may also attend special seminars taught by Grandmaster Wong, prepare to participate in martial arts tournaments, or participate in our instructor training program.

Our special Restorative Chi Kung/Tai Chi classes, oriented to the needs of those recovering from illness, provide instruction on very gentle exercises which can be learned by anyone able to walk up the stairs to our studio. The various elements of Chi Kung/ Tai Chi practice are introduced more gradually, with the level of training softened to accommodate the needs of those with mobility or other health concerns. Tai Chi movements are carefully modified so that students can use them to correct balance problems and increase strength, circulation and endurance. These classes are an excellent way to prepare for our Tai Chi Chuan/ Chi Kung program. Students enjoying good health who desire a gentler and quieter period of Chi Kung practice are also welcome to attend.

Instruction in Chi Kung is integrated into our Tai Chi program; each Tai Chi class begins with a period of Chi Kung practice. Students receive instruction on how to establish a successful Chi Kung practice, how to handle the difficulties which arise along the way, and on I Chuan and Eighteen Lohan postures and movements.

Review of Tai Chi Chuan, February 01, 2009

I am so infinitely glad to have found Miriam Marsolais at the White Magnolia Tai Chi School. I have been her student for almost two years. Miriam is a meticulous, kind, and thoughtful teacher whose attention to detail is supreme. The classes are small and intimate – lots and lots of personal attention. Each student is allowed to progress at his/her own pace in a friendly atmosphere. When I walk out of class, I feel each and every cell in my body humming with joy. Thank you, White Magnolia!

Review of Tai Chi Chuan, February 01, 2009

This school hails from a long lineage of original Tai Chi masters, so the forms and movements are traditional, correct, and does for the practitioner what it was meant to do: improve internal energy, gain better balance, better connection to one's body. This is a good class for those who want to study something real and get real results!
    Highly recommended.
