Yin yoga employs passive floor postures held for extended periods of time in order to stretch connective tissues of the hip joints and spine, affecting the ligaments, joints, tendons and fascia. Students are guided through the physical practice with contemplation of classical yoga psychology as it relates to modern life. As the body opens and releases effortlessly, the mind itself is toned, strengthened and expanded. Meditation techniques are explored to create a relaxed, focused mind. Perfect for the runners, cyclists and other athletes who simply require flexibility training rather than a yoga "workout", or those who seek a slow, calm, quietly gentle practice. Class concludes with a regular seated meditation.
