-Helping clients treat difficult emotional challenges with compassion, awareness, and light-heartedness.
-Companioning clients with depression/anxiety, grief & loss, childhood & adult trauma, relationship issues, and illness.
-Aiding clients in discovering who they truly are and their meaning with the universe and the Divine.
-Recognizing pre-learned and self-destructive thoughts and actions that are simply "not working anymore."
-Guiding clients in the integration of spirituality & sexuality.
-Assisting clients in re-discovering their vitality and creativity.
-Assisting couples to reconnect, help resolve relationship difficulties, and put the "magic" back into their relationship.
-Helping clients set strong boundaries and stop acting like a "door mat."
-Re-connecting with the spontaneity, playfulness, and creativity we once had by celebrating and embracing our inner-child.
I apply a unique and creative approach to therapy that is rooted in both transpersonal and Buddhist philosophies. Transpersonal psychotherapy is defined as, "The study of humanity’s highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive, spiritual, and transcendent states of consciousness" (Lajoie and Shapiro, 1992). Buddhist psychotherapy uses Buddhist principles with the ultimate goal of enlightenment. I incorporate a number of different practices into my approach including mindfulness meditation, spirituality, yoga, and the arts. These practices are used to help the inner healing process and deal with common challenges including resentments, fears, deep-seated wounds, and other lingering "unfinished business" from our past.
