This upbeat, no pressure small class begins with a seminar giving you an overview of pet therapy service. Then you and your dog will get the opportunity to do a test run going through all the exercises/tests you will be required to perform when you regiser for your actual test at a later date.
The test run gives you the opportunity to get a feel for the required exercises and receive training help along the way.
Dogs must be a minimum of 6 months old and have had prior training as this class is not an obedience training class. This prep class is a review of the basic training commands, sit, stay, down, walk on a leash and come. All exercises are performed on leash.
You will also review other exercises that will help prepare you for therapy service.
The class begins at 6:15p.m. and runs until 9:15p.m at Cascade Vista Nursing Facility in Redmond, Wa. This environment gives you unique real world experience in an actual nursing home.
