This is a one-on-one weekly session that will take you from a complete beginner to a solid guitar player while building your understanding of basic music theory, popular music composition, and lyric writing. First lesson is free and if you don't already have a guitar, we'll meet at a local used instrument store and work together to pick something out that meets your budget. Classes are catered to your current skill level and can be directed toward your own interests. If you already have written materials, sessions can also be used to workshop compositions, lyrics and melody and find new directions to expand in.

Your sessions are taught by Scott Concinnity of the Seattle band 'Letters From Traffic', who has been singing for 25 years, writing songs for 17 years, and playing the guitar for 14 years.

Review of Songwriting on the Guitar, April 30, 2009

Scott brings great energy, enthusiasm and perspective to teaching guitar. I'd always wanted to learn to play, and Scott turned out to be a great teacher. He has the perspective of an accomplished player as well as a talented songwriter, and he has a natural gift for teaching not only the mechanics of playing but also the practical application of music theory. Scott made learning guitar a fun and rewarding experience for me, and his patience and positive energy helped me avoid getting frustrated when things seemed a bit challenging, and helped me achieve a real sense of personal accomplishment. And on top of all that he taught me how to juggle, and also shared the Concinnity Song-o-Matic, which turned me into a song-writing genius!

Review of Songwriting on the Guitar, April 20, 2009

Scott is an AMAZING teacher and songwriter. He is extremely patient and easy going. You can tell he's really passionate about music by how excited he gets when he sees his student learn and improve. He starts with and values fundamentals, which I really appreciate as well.

anyone who wants to learn how to play the guitar and have a great time, Scott's your man. seriously.

    He's also in a kick a** band!
