Private flute and piccolo lessons for all ages. Flute Clinics for elementary, middle and high school music classes.

Susan teaches students of any age. She has been teaching students, from ages 6 to 70, since 1984. Susan focuses on the basics using etudes, scales and arpeggios, duets and solos. From there, her students are encouraged to improvise and add their own signature sound to everything they play. Students also learn music history, theory, sight reading, breathing and rhythm. Susan's students perform in a studio recital every year and have many other opportunities to perform at MTAC sponsored events. She will also prepare students for auditions for ensembles, colleges, and competitions. Susan makes sure that every lesson is fun while encouraging students to always play their best.

Flute Clinics help students understand the instrument better and perform better. Subjects can include intonation, ensemble, musicianship, technique, soft high notes, loud low notes and anything else the music director or Susan wants addressed.

Review of Susan Sigge, March 07, 2009

I've had the pleasure of knowing Susan Sigge for many years, and have heard her play many times, and observe her teaching style with a large group of flutists. Susan has a gift for teaching - she makes it look effortless. Her style is gentle but firm, and she draws out the best in her students, by example and encouragement.
Indeed, Susan has by osmosis taught me some skills in other seemingly unrelated areas - using the same ethic with which she approaches her music - discipline, practise, excellent aesthetics and lifelong learning.

Review of Susan Sigge, January 13, 2009

It was also good for me to have Susan teaching me because it was fun for me to go to my lessons. Even though my past teachers were good, there were some days when I didn’t look forward to going to the lessons, or days when I didn’t prepare for lessons since I wasn’t motivated enough… and I know that’s not their fault, but I also know that each lesson I had with Susan I went in looking forward to it and left happy and left feeling like I had really learned something. It was nice being motivated again with music and having fun in the process. I had to get ready for an audition in a short period of time and I was accepted to the school I applied to and I know my lessons helped me with having a successful audition.

Song Writer, in You

Whenever I mention Song Writing to people it seems like a foreign subject to some, and to others not so much.  It seems like only the "music elite" can write good songs.  So we ...
