A wide range of artistic styles can be explored for inspiration, but the primary search is to find one's own unique individual song and essential style. Improvisatory theory and practice may also be explored.
The instructor also incorporates and teaches a diverse number of instruments to support the 'voice' including guitar (all styles and types), piano, lute, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, harp, Native American flute, and a variety of other western and asiatic folk and classical instruments.

Edward Hale is an extremely kind, patient and helpful instructor. I have only praises to sing of his musical maturity and his abilities to teach and play. He writes his own music and has encouraged me to be creative also. I have been writing my own songs with his help. What a pleasant surprise! After studying piano for many years with severe and strict professors in Europe, it feels like I've come home to music again. When I practice the flamenco guitar I feel often like I am quietly breathing the spirit of music beneath the shade of an ancient tree, or singing and dancing in the light of a freindly sun.

I am in awe by how much Ed Hale has been able to teach me. His ability to share so many aspects of guitar and music has fed me creatively and increased my passion to play. Ed takes a lot of time with me getting to know what I want to learn and exhibits a command of so many guitar styles. Really amazing!
