Flintknapping Demonstrations

I do local demonstrations on flintknapping, as well as on prehistoric archaeology in general. Demonstrations show the basic techniques used for making stone tools, using real materials like obsidian as well as other safe and fun materials like frozen chocolate. The demonstrations generally consist of a short lecture and slide show, a demonstration, and hands-on activities.

Notes:

Fees generally are nominal, mostly to cover the costs of acquiring raw materials (none of which are found naturally in this area). As such, the fee/donation depends on the number of students, length of presentation, and the amount of desired participation (generally about $100/hour). The fee may be waived for certain schools/circumstances.
