This class offers four quarters of ongoing instruction in painting and is designed as a continuation to the first year of Acrylic Painting I. Painters with some experience are welcome to enroll with the instructor's permission. This class is designed to provide continuity and mentored development with a single teacher and the opportunity to build progressively on skills and concepts, with lots of individual attention. The curriculum includes painting technique, color theory, drawing, composition and related art history component. The emphasis this quarter will be on practical application of techniques, paint handling and building an expressive surface. Work from carefully selected still lifes and reproductions of master works, and explore color interaction in abstract exercises. Prerequisite: Acrylic Painting I or permission of instructor.
