Salmon Silhouette Watercolors

Needed Items:
· Watercolor paper
· Board
· Blue tape
· Watercolor paint sets
· Brushes
· Pencils
· Erasers
· Black Sharpie Pens (fine tip)
· Photo print-outs of Salmon, silhouettes (trees, boats, etc...)
Have students tape down their paper around the edges (all the way around the paper).
Students will draw a large salmon on their paper, copied from a poster or a photo. Students will free-draw this picture.
Draw the outline of your mini silhouette picture inside the salmon body with pencil. Then ink in the picture with permanent black marker (sharpie). Fill in the object (tree, boat, etc... to create a silhouette effect.
Students should then use watercolor to paint their salmon – making sure to emphasize where the oranges and reds are. (These colors will represent a sunset for their mini landscape silhouette pictures.)
· Students should get the main colors on, and then add the details for the fins, mouth, eye, tail, etc...
· Students who finish quickly may then add a background, like water, rocks, sand, etc...
