Wearable Art on Silk

Have you ever wanted to see your designs on silk?
Now is your opportunity to learn the ins and outs of silk paintings.
This class will explore various techniques- gutta certi, salt, alcohol, linear underpainting,
Washes shading and blending.
Students will create 3 different silk scarves during this session.
For the price of one designer hand painted scarf you will get 3 plus you will learn the process.
Cost of each class $35
$5 material fee is payable to the instructor (per person per class)
Supplies include: a silk scarf 12``-60``
Silk dyes (Jacquard Green Label)
Gutta, brushes, salt, freezer paper, sketch paper, books, images.
 1st class - Painting on silk crepe de chine scarf (14mm) Gutta-Certi technique, salt and alcohol technique.
 2nd class - Silk chiffon scarf (5mm). Specifics of painting on silk chiffon. Developing your own design.
 3rd class – Silk scarf (8mm). Japanese free brush stroke technique, treating the scarves with a color set and a softener.

Fine Art on Silk.

Learn to create silk paintings from photographs provided by the instructor or bring your own photos. The steps demonstrated will include creating a Learn to create silk paintings from photographs provided by the instructor or bring your own photos. Composition, drawing it on silk, and building the painting, using gutta resist and salt. Natasha will help students use color and line to free up their silk painting expressiveness, instead of just filling in defined areas with a single color. She will also demonstrate the painting of faces, and reflections in glass.

Natasha Foucault has exhibited and sold her fine art silk paintings and wearables locally and internationally. She took Best of Show at two SPIN Silk Festivals in Santa Fe. Teaching silk painting to both children and adults, she is also the co-author of “Silk Diary: An Artist's Journey from Moscow to Mendocino”, a narrative blending her life stories, paintings, and silk painting techniques.

Art Classes for Children

Natasha,s Creative Art Program introduces children to different kinds of applied art- Still Lives, Portraits, Thematic Paintings, Illustrations of favorite fairy tales, Collages, Sculpture with Clay, Painting on Silk Scarves and Hankies, Landscapes done outside at nature setting, Theater Puppets, Pastels, Watercolors and more.
The Art History segment of the Program includes Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Middle Ages, Renaissance and Modern Art.
The main goal is to help children understand and enjoy art, and to awaken the creative forces of their souls.
