You'll learn to learn to paint in watercolors in this welcoming, inviting, enjoyable class environment in the artist's studio in Mill Valley. Whether you're a continuing student, or even if you've never picked up a brush before, in this class you'll learn all you need to paint in watercolor. In our safe, nonjudgmental atmosphere, you'll learn about materials and techniques, and how to get the fabulous effects that are possible in watercolor.

Best of all, as you learn the ins and outs of watercolor painting you'll also be developing your own personal artistic language and style. In the beginning, just getting the techniques down seems like it's enough – and it is! And in this class, at the same time you're getting the skills and techniques, you're also developing your artist's voice.

Since I know it's more comfortable to know a little about the person who will be teaching your class, I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I live in Mill Valley with my husband and two dogs. I'm an award-winning artist and painting is my passion. When I'm not painting, I'm hiking on Mt. Tam's trails, or visiting the ocean, or enjoying my garden. Or, you might find me painting on silk, or making jewelry using silver clay.

What I want for you is for the very experience of painting to be a nourishment for you. My intention and my passion as a teacher is to do everything possible for you to have fun and enjoy yourself as you become the be the best painter you can be. I have found that when the class is fun, and welcoming, and inviting, my students learn so very much.

P.S. Yes, private lessons are available as well.

Review of Sharon Searles, April 21, 2009

I took a PMC class from Sharon with my 12 year old niece and we had a wonderful time. Sharon was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. She also had every imaginable tool and and endless array of creative supplies. She has such a wonderful combination of technical knowledge and creative talent that she is eager to share. I could not recommend her more highly.
