The snare drum is the focal point of all drum and percussion study. It is were the student develops proper percussion technique, rhythmical reading, dynamic control and interpretive skills. These skills transfer easily to all other areas of percussion performance.

Snare drum study includes care and feeding of the snare drum, stick grips (traditional & matched) hand and stick positions, stick control, snare drum rudiment development, rhythmical reading, dynamics, phrasing and rudimental and orchestral snare drum repertoire.

Study also includes historical awareness through the ancient literature of the American Revolution and Civil Wars. Performance is available on authentic instruments of the period from my personal collection.

Advanced study includes etudes and solo literature from some of the best composers of modern snare drumming. Guidance is available for regional and state solo contests associated with the school music programs.

Review of Dan Adams, April 24, 2009

Dan starts at the correct skills for teaching percussion. He starts with rudiments and the physical approach to the instrument. After this is taught it is carried throughout the rest of the levels of instruction. This causes the student to always learn from the best foundation as they cover various styles and instruments. Absolutely the best there is.

Review of Dan Adams, April 23, 2009

Mr. Adams is very knowledgable in all aspects of percussion. He can work with large groups and with single people. I knows how to push you and make you improve. Anybody would be lucky to take lessons with somebody half as good as Mr. Adams.
