Subject: Chicago Photography Classes

Skill level: Intermediate

Starting in October 1969 Richard Stromberg's classes have enabled over 25,000 students and 1 million hours of Digital and Film photography instruction.

In Digital Photo II, you will go beyond regular through the lens (TTL) metering and learn methods that will allow you be more precise with exposure and color. Much of the curriculum will focus on techniques to improve the technical aspects of your photographs. Histograms, grey cards, color temperature, white balance, and light meters are just some of the lessons we will cover in Photo II. These lessons will help you develop strategic approaches to handle mixed lighting and other hard-to-shoot situations so you may better predict your photograph's outcome before you shoot. We will also continue to focus on the artistic side of photography, and many of the lessons will cover approaches to aesthetically improve your photography. With discussions on composition, lens choice, shadows, lighting and angle, to name a few, you will discover new ways to see and capture imagery from the world around you. By combining technical and artistic lessons, Digital Photo II will provide a solid framework to allow you to improve your photographs overall. To participate in Digital Photo II, your camera must be a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) with the ability to store images in RAW format. You must have completed Digital Photo I class (or equivalent) and have a general understanding of how aperture, shutter speed and ISO are manipulated to achieve the correct exposure using your camera's TTL metering. Prerequisite: Photo I , completed at Richard Stromberg's Chicago, Oak Park, or Park Ridge Photography Classes Why Are Classes Different at Chicago Photography Classes? My mama done told me, SON. YOU PAID HOW MUCH? Richard, "I told you son, you get what you pay for"? Why do you get more for your money here? What is value? Is it all, just about price?.......... Well, not quite! We don't fill our classes with as many people as the room will hold. No “aircraft” seating here, three abreast, aisle in the middle. It's easy to get lost in a large class, it's just human nature for an arrogant “artsy” teacher to gravitate to the brightest light in the room. It takes teaching experience and attention to detail to be sure everyone in the room "gets it". Our ratio of 1 teacher for every 5 students is the most effective teaching model in Chicago and the Midwest. You are not just another body to help us meet our monthly nut. We pay close attention to each student. If you are having trouble "getting it" we will spend as much time with you as necessary. Our Computer facilities are spacious, four feet of space for each work station, tall ceilings, no cramming of students here! Come on by to tour our facilities -- two computer Labs, 26 Computers, PCs and iMacs. A film darkroom, seven "best in class" archival Epson Printers, a Lighting Studio. Large classrooms, padded arm chairs with wheels. We provide each Photo I student with their own 50 sheet box of archival paper for their prints, with notebooks and handouts, at no additional charge. We have ample Free parking seven days a week. The Photo II & III students have 24 hour, seven day a week access to the facilities. What we have is a community of people focused on learning & teaching Photography. No elitism, no attitude, no rules or restrictions that get in the way of learning, no “membership” fee. After you finish a class with Richard & his Teachers you will have real skills, that you will use in your journey of life long learning. We don't have rigid hours, we will stay as late as is required after class and we open each day, hours before classes start. Every student gets extra time if they need it. Richard is available to students seven days a week, at the times that are convenient for students. Everyone gets Richard's cell phone number and you may call or text him 24 hours a day. Richard even has someone answering his phone for him while he is teaching a class. Each perspective student is encouraged to attend our free 90 minute workshop offered each weekend, before they start classes. Our first Photo I class is free, no salesman will call. Richard uses his 45 years of photography and teaching experience for the benefit of his students. Which camera to buy? Where to go for the best price? Which are the best lenses? Which are the best used cameras and lenses, and how much should they cost? Forty years teaching, more than 12,00 students; Richard is the founder of the most recognized Photo Programs in Chicago. The teachers here don't teach to impress you with what they know, they teach you, so you will learn and grow and find your own unique artistic center. Are you getting what you paid for? At Richard Stromberg's Chicago Photography Classes – We Help You Make The World’s Most Important Photographs, - YOURS Our guarantee - Laughter Will Be Heard & Learning Will Occur. ;-) "At Richard Stromberg's Chicago Photography Classes we won't try to sell you a "membership", caps or t-shirts with our logo on it. We won't ask you for contributions or charge you to attend a party for a Show Opening. We will, teach and work to foster a safe community where you will learn something every time you walk through the door." Richard **** 1/1/10 "The Only Accent Here Is On Learning"
