BLASTIN' BARRIERStm PIANO STUDY is an extension of the artistic impulse that drives FREDERICK HARRIS, and through which he seeks to ignite that impulse in YOU, the prospective student! As a concert and jazz pianist, clinician, composer, music director, drummer and educator, and extensively teaching primary through collegiate levels, institutionally and privately, for over 20 years, FREDERICK HARRIS has blasted through the many barriers of musical and artistic development, as represented by his illustrious, multi-faceted international career. Whether very young or adult, beginning or advanced, classically driven or modernly-motivated, BLASTIN' BARRIERStm PIANO STUDY begins with blasting the barrier of misconception that one must have a "choose this, or that" attitude about music, generally, and the piano, specifically. The vast repertory that is considered to be "piano music", unparalleled by any other instrument, supremely reveals to us with profound clarity that the piano does it all! And, the same elemental attributes of good playing; which include a solid technique, understanding what is heard through learning about what is heard- definitively, and thorough comprehension of the music being played, apply to all styles of music, written or improvised. Mr. Harris continues to develop a pedagogy sure to develop these, and other skills, in the student player serious about learning; whether they play for 'fun', or with professional aspirations in mind.

Come, "blast" through the "barriers" of limiting ideas framing what YOU can achieve at the piano- because of a restrictive, non-fulfilling past experience of piano study- and have a NEW experience... that is challenging, but most importantly, very rewarding! For the inexperienced, enjoy the privilege of starting a relationship with an instrument, notoriously laden with negatives, from a totally clean and positively-formed foundation, destined to supercharge your hunger to reach higher levels of playing, and learn to LOVE THE PROCESS!!

  • "A True Teacher"

Review of BLASTIN' BARRIERStm Piano Study, November 15, 2009

Without sounding dramatic, this guy is truly the best. For someone that is amazing both at his instrument and general understanding of music, it is incredible that he is also so down to earth. If you want a teacher not only with knowledge, but wisdom, I suggest looking into lessons with Mr. Frederick Harris.
