The ability to visually assess your clients' posture and patterns of compensation is a time-saving skill that focuses your work. Every symptom is a part of a larger pattern. Learn to read these larger patterns in terms of where the skeleton is in space, and how the soft tissue creates or maintains this pattern. Understanding these patterns makes your work more efficient and long lasting in its effects.
In this six hour workshop, you will learn the vocabulary in the KMI systematic approach to assessment of posture and gait, and practice these skills with short side trips into Pilates matwork. Leave the course confident in your skill to assess major patterns clearly and quickly. The course includes all materials, and is supported by an available 3-DVD self-study course.

Review of Shelly Stephenson, October 17, 2009
The Anatomy in Clay workshop was one of those weekend workshops that you didn't want to end! I recently attended this workshop taught by Shelly Stephenson at Bodies In Balance studio located in downtown Portland, Or. and it was both amazing & fun! Building the muscles of the body out of clay and attaching them to the Maniken was one fascinating discovery after another and I can't begin to tell you how much I got out of this workshop! I have attempted to study and learn anatomy before but after the first hour of our Anatomy in Clay class it was as if we opened up a new chapter on Anatomy that I had never seen before!
Thank You Shelly for creating such a warm, friendly, and non intimidating, atmosphere for us to all learn in during the Anatomy in Clay workshop and for being so willing to share all that you have learned on your journey! I love it.

Bodies in Balance is, definitely, one of the best things I found here in Portland. As a Pilates Instructor, I found professional excellency and support, and a lot of respect. As a client, I experienced creative classes that challenged me with knowledgeable instructors.
Shelly Stephenson is a great Instructor with a refined set of teaching skills. One of the things that is impressive about Shelly is her extensive and solid background which makes her an excellent Training Director.I feel honored of being part of Bodies In Balance's staff!
