Why Pole Dance?
Posted by Poledello on November 04, 2009
ll around the globe, women have a strong magnetic attraction to pole dancing. So why are so many of us obsessed with this sensual form of dance and fighting for acceptance of our sport?
Perhaps for the first time we now have true permission to play and focus solely on ourselves, if only for an hour or two each day. We can truly escape to our poles whether they are in our garages, homes or in a studio and unleash our unique sexy passionate personas. We are finally allowed to express and explore our beautiful curvy bodies regardless of age and size and begin to understand that each of us is a secret vixen and super heroine. When we...

A Practical Guide To Pole Dancing For The Everyday Women
Posted by PoleLaTeaz on July 14, 2009
Pole Dancing is the best! It accomplishes so many things all at once: it builds strength in your upper body and your core muscles, increases confidence, gets you exercising on a regular basis, allows you to meet other great women, and the music is hot!
Its very easy to forget that you are even exercising! But we are....and so we definitely want to decrease our chances of getting injured. Anytime you start a new fitness regime (or exercise program in general) there is risk for injury. But be smart about it and things will go a lot smoother.
So here are some tips to follow if you are new to pole dancing.
I highly encourage you to find a local studio that specializes in pole dancing. This is the best way to learn. Just make sure to check out the studio and see what their experience is. Not all pole studios are created equally. So if they offer some type of intro class I...

Hello Daryn,
Yes...there are studios that offer pole dancing for men and they tend to have a more fitness focus and not dance. Our studio is a private company and we are female only but some studios are coed.

Pole dancing immoral and Wikepole

Pole dancing studio "immoral"
So I got a pretty good laugh from this article at Red Orbit about a town’s outrage of Elona Gano’s (I believe, former Pole Addiction instructor) new pole dance studio. “It is immoral”, says one resident.
I sooo cannot relate to this puritan attitude held by many when it comes to pole dancing for fitness. I personally say F@*k em and go about my business blessing the...

Felix Cane Is Miss Pole Dance World
I you’re a pole freak you’ve probably already heard that Felix Cane walked away with the Miss Pole Dance World 2009 title on April 25th. Buying Your First Pole?
Posted by Shelly on June 18, 2009
There’s nothing more fabulous than being a pole dance freak and having your own pole waiting to greet when you get home. These days there’s a lot of competition among the dance pole distributors out there and that means that prices are coming down to earth. If you’re shopping around for your very own here are some things to consider: Will the rents gasp when they come to visit and find a giant STRIPPER thing erected in my bedroom? Will I be flipping upside down from the STRIPPER thing? Is my skin (hands) prone to being sweaty or sticky? How high and what type (flat or vaulted) is my ceiling.
Dance poles come in permanent, removable and novelty flavors. Permanent poles are the cheapest, and with a little research on the net you can erect one for around 50 bucks or spend a little more on aesthetics and go to markstar.com. Removable poles can be taken down when not in use, so you can regain your living space and skip the explanation portion of your...

How To Buy A Dancing Pole
Posted by Yannori on May 09, 2009
Alright, so you all know how much I love pole dancing. Its my first and favorite sensual exercise and the best way I know to let some of that feminine fire fly. But when you first start, it can seem a daunting task to figure out how to choose a new pole. Follow my advice and don’t let information overload get you down. Your perfect pole awaits!
A Quality Pole
First off, lets get you excited, meaning all hot and bothered, about buying that 8 foot tall (or more!) floor to ceiling shiny metal pole. Believe me, the first time you wrap your hands around the perfect circumference of polished metal with the knowledge that it’s yours and your alone, you’ll absolutely understand why I’ve got three poles at home.
A pole is an investment in your health and fitness, as well as an outlet for your sensuality, so take some time browsing the different types of materials, sizes, surface finishes and spinning or static versions. And always buy from a professional pole manufacturer that uses high quality materials and manufacturing methods. Although you may find these to be a little more expensive...

Find a Pole Dancing Instructor You Can Trust... or Suffer the Injuries
Posted by Yannori on May 09, 2009
Can your pole dancing instructor protect you from the most common fitness injuries prevalent today? Does she know how to modify her classes for a woman with diabetes or a knee injury?
Pole dancing is a recent addition to the US fitness industry but there have already been numerous sport specific injuries. Just type “pole dancing accident” into any YouTube or Google browser.
Greg Welch M.S, a physiologist and the owner of Specifit, believes that the most likely injuries from pole dancing can occur at the rotator cuff, a group of small muscles that surround and protect the shoulder ball and cuff socket.
Overuse is the #1 reason for injury. Physical performance… requires training to prevent injury — Greg Welch
Here’s my Sensual Girls Guide to the six questions you should ask your instructor to ensure she is up to date about pole dancing fitness and safety.
1. Does she have a current Fitness Certification?

How to choose a pole studio. Four questions you need to ask!
Posted by Diva Den Studio on April 01, 2009
How to choose a pole dance studio? 4 questions you should always ask!The craze has hit. We all see it. Pole Studios popping up left and right all over the country, and the world! But how do you go about choosing the right studio? What questions should you ask?Hopefully, this little checklist will start you on your way to choosing the right studio for you and especially your safety.1. InsuranceDoes the pole studio/instructor have liability insurance? This is a VERY important question to ask, which is why I put it first. Pole Dancing is a physical sport, not unlike gymnastics, especially as you progress to the upper levels.Liability insurance will cover you in case of an accident. Accidents can happen, even with the most experienced instructors, and yes, even with “crash pads” you can still get hurt (I personally believe that crash pads give a false sense of security and do not use them, if you have been trained properly, yes even trained on how to fall in case it happens, then there is no need for them). Will your medical insurance cover you if you get hurt at a class? What if you don’t have insurance, who’s going to pay your medical bills. This is what liability insurance is for. It protects YOU in case of a pole related injury. When you ask a potential instructor if they have liability insurance, you need to be specific. Pole dancing is such a new industry, there are VERY few insurance companies that cover pole related injuries. Many pole dance studios get insured by getting “fitness insurance” this is NO guarantee that your medical bills will be covered with a pole related injury, and in actuality, PROBABLY WON’T cover you! You must ask if they have “POLE DANCE LIABILITY INSURANCE”. This insures that you will be covered in case of a pole related injury. Don’t just ask if they have it, ASK TO SEE IT! If they refuse to show you or if they do and it says...

I had no idea how difficult pole dancing was until I got the chance to talk to Krisha, who runs Pole for the Soul (a studio up here in Seattle). Pole dancing is truly an art.
Although, like Joseph, I don't think I'll be sliding down a pole any time soon, I definitely have an appreciation for the skills it takes.

Pole Dance Primer. The OM GYM!
Posted by WorldDance Fitness on March 10, 2009
By Aruna
Anyone who’s ever tried shimmying up a pole or hanging upside down on one knows it ain’t easy. If you’ve never tried but want to—let me warn you. It takes inner thighs like vice grips and triceps, biceps, lats & abs of steel. Of course, dancing on the pole makes you strong. But we all need extra help building the strength and confidence to get to that point.
I use an OM GYM to build extra strength in...

Wow that sounds like hard work! I'm impressed - I've watched pole dancing and it obviously requires a ton of strength, but I guess I never thought about how people got to being ON the pole. Wow!

Yes, it works. Building lat strength (back muscle) is important so you don't hurt your shoulders when you climb. And you've got to have strong abs just to invert. The Pencil does the trick. There are lots more exercises to do on the OM GYM (see their website: www.omgym.com). As for pole dvd's I recommend Jamilla Demille's. This former Ms. Pole Dance Australia has 5 dvd's and her teaching is clear and precise. Love her!
