Qigong Is My Life

I had many chronic diseases when I was young. I suffered from Neurosis; Migraine Headache; Arthritis: Insomnia; Daily Stomach Ache, Etc. In 1982, I was diagnosed of a terminal cancer. It started from breast cancer and spread into my lymph system. The doctor gave me two months to live. After 7 hour-long surgery, I suffered a lot of pain. I was so weak that I could not stand the chemotherapy or the radiation therapy. My hair dropped. I looked into the mirror and I saw a 90- year-old woman even though I was only 49 years old. I could not eat; I hardly drank anything. I had no energy at all. I felt I was dying.
One day while I was waiting for radiation treatment. A fellow patient asked me about my disease, and I told him my story in tears. I told him that what I worried most was my two daughters. They were too young to loose their mother. But, he was listening to me with a smile. I thought, “This man has no heart.” Then he told me his story. He suffered from lung cancer and his lungs were full of cancers. The doctors could do nothing to help him and only advised him to go back to eat well and rest well. That means there was no hope for him. He did not give up and went to the parks to seek some methods to help him. He saw a group of people practicing. Soaring Crane Qigong and they told him that they were all cancer patients and they all benefited from the qigong practice. So, he joined them and practiced everyday. Three months later, he felt much better and came to the same hospital as mine to have a recheck. To the doctor’s great surprise, all the cancers in his lungs were gone but only one left. Therefore the doctor prescribed radiation therapy for him. This was how we met. He told me not to cry and helped me register for the qigong class the next day and he even bought a park pass for me. I was wrong. This man had a big heart. The strange thing was, I never saw this man again. Now, the more I think of this, the more I believe he was my guiding angel.
Qigong is a traditional Chinese exercise. The movements are slow and gentle. It is a self-healing method. I practiced qigong religiously. Twice a day. In three weeks, I was able to eat properly and sleep like a log. Within a year, most of my diseases left me without saying good-bye.
Qigong is a key to somatic science, which studies the relationship between the universe and human beings. We are microcosm. Through qigong practice, our microcosm will be cleansed and will live in harmony with the universe.
In Chinese medicines, we say, “ Where there is a blockage, there is a disease. When the blockage is gone, the disease is gone.’ It is the same with cancers.
Now I am 75 years old, have been teaching Qigong since I recovered in the 80's. I taught Qigong at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and after I retired, I devote my time to translate qigong books, give guidance to my students and teach in our Wisdom and Peace Wellness Center in CA. To spread qigong is my mission. Qigong is my life.
To people who are suffering from illnesses, I wish you regain your health soon and make more contribution to mankind!
Thank you for reading.
